What Is Life Coaching?

What Is Life Coaching

“Life Coaching is quite simply, two people sitting down together, and having a conversation. This can be done in person, on the phone, or on a virtual platform like skype. As a coach, I hold the space and ask questions, listen deeply and assist in productive processing. My clients often don’t create the time within their everyday lives to sit down and think about where they want to go. Life Coaching provides an excellent opportunity to be intentional, to think about what you want, and why. Without the distractions of everyday life, clients find clarity. With clarity and discernment, comes power. It’s quite exciting to see a client light up when the vision becomes clear, and at that point, they become unstoppable. When a client creates a new vision in life, one where they can really see themselves doing what they truly desire, then they can achieve it.”

Coaching FAQs

What is a session like?

Sessions last 50 minutes and need to take place in a calm private location, away from people, pets and distractions. Sessions are confidential and provide the client space to process, come to new insights, envision and explore. When clients have the opportunity to discover their own vision for their lives, they will follow through on what is necessary in order to create it. For this reason, I do not give advice to clients in session.

Where do we meet?

I typically meet with clients over the phone, but if you are in Nashville, TN you may come to my office if you’d prefer to be face to face for sessions. A private space is essential in order to process and feel comfortable. For all sessions, please ensure that you are in a place away from distractions with no people, pets, computers, phones, screens or interruptions.

When do we meet?

In coaching, it’s important that we meet 3 times a month, with one week off for integration. I am available for sessions Tuesday- Thursday from 10am-3pm Central Standard Time. You will be able to choose your session times on Calendly. I coach January-May, & September-December.

When and how are you accessible?

I will get back to you within 48 hours if it’s during the work week. I do not text with clients, so feel free to email me.

How can I best prepare for a session?

If you’d like, I can send pre-session and post-session questions to assist clients in getting the most out of their session. The questions are there to inspire thought, and aren’t specifically addressed in session. Clients will create action steps at the end of each session, but this isn’t homework. This accountability is only for the client to have steps to move towards their stated goals.

The most important thing

You’ve got this. Sessions are a safe space where clients are encouraged to express what they are feeling. There is no judgement in sessions, just a space held for you to be. Initially, it’s important to remember that there is no need to be hard on yourself, and that wherever you are is okay. Amazing change comes sweeping in when we give ourselves permission to finally listen and move forward in the direction of our dreams. Coaching is a supportive process of unfolding and blossoming, of diving deep and creating the life you want.

What is the difference between life coaching and therapy?

Sometimes people ask the difference between coaching and therapy. Coaching is future focused positive space where you can explore and more forward. Therapy is looking backwards to your past and working through that. If you imagine that life is a car, coaching focuses on the front windshield, only referencing the past through the rear view mirror. In therapy, you are turning around and looking out the rear window.

How do I pay for a package?

Payment for packages may be made in full or monthly. All payments can be made securely online at https://carlykear.com/payments. Please provide 24 hours notice if a session needs to be rescheduled or it will be void.

What is a session like?

When the session takes place, Carly and her client will sit down in a quiet room, away from family members, pets and other distractions. Sessions can span a wide range of emotions, and all are accepted in the safe and confidential place where the client can really explore and be productive.

Do we need to have sessions in person?
